Daily Agenda for Camp

Day 1

    • Ideate, set goals
  • One Question, icebreaker.
  • Your Camp theme for making.

Sublimation Collage

Use the provided printed imagery to create a collage onto a coaster in multiple presses on the heat press.

  • Heat Press Training for sublimation collage
    • What is sublimation?
      • Uses heat and pressure to transfer a design from sublimation paper to a material or fabric. Turning the ink’s solid particles into a gas, which then penetrates and binds to the material.
    • Materials and methods
      • Primarily polyester for direct prints
      • we have lots of printable materials, choose one or two of each. Yes, they are free. Start with coster, then mousepad.
      • Prototype not production. You can try out ideas and products and once you find a winner, have it reproduced or buy your materials and do it at the Makerspace.
    • Layering
      • ink is transparent and layers like watercolor or markers. Paper will block ink so trim as needed or print fine details separately.

Design Your Own Sublimation Print

Choose a blank product, design a graphic at the correct size in whatever design program you know (Canva, Illustrator, Google Draw) and/or use a photo from your phone, or draw something.

Using a USB Flash or Jump Drive

  1. Insert the drive into the USB port on the front of the desktop computer.
  2. A dialog box may appear when you first insert the drive. If not, you can open Windows Explorer/Mac Finder and select the drive on the left side of the window.
  3. Use the drive like any other folder on your computer. Copy files into the drive by dragging and dropping them into the dives folder. When you’re done eject the drive before unplugging it. To remove a file, you can drag it to the trash and then empty the trash OR use the eject button.
